The pros and cons of hiring tutors through agencies, websites, or directly.

 

When did you start tutoring?

Back in high school, I worked with a neighbor a bunch on her homework and her confidence went up like crazy. I got more into tutoring during my student teaching where I would stay after every week to work with a student on her math homework. After college, I have been offering services on various other tutoring platforms and decided I wanted to host my own.

 

Do you have a required minimum rate?

All my packages are for 1-hour sessions. Let us say you have a younger child and their attention span maybe 30 minutes, you would still pay for the 1-hour minimum session rate.

 

Can online tutoring really replace the value of an in-person tutor?

Both in-person tutoring and online tutoring can bring a lot of value to a student. They are just different.

Some of the perks with an online tutor:

• You don't have to drive them to the tutor or pick them up 
• You can be at home 
• You have your choice of tutors from all over the world and are not limited to who is in your vicinity
• You have a chance to record the session so you and your student can review what you learned at a later date
• You get a digital copy of the digital whiteboard used during the session
• You have the chance to see the process with your student 

Will you tutor my high school student?

At this time, I am working mainly with elementary and middle school students. If I do consider working with a more advanced student, I accept them on a case by case basis. I am also happy to refer you to other tutors who can help.

 

What hours are you generally available?

I am generally available weekdays between 9am-4pm central and ideally work with students between 11-3 central. I am flexible on later times on a case by case basis.

 

What is your cancelation policy?

I ask that you cancel 48 hours in advance if you cannot make the session. If you cancel within 24 hours, I reserve the right to charge for the full session price. When I block out time for your family, I have to say no to others. I set up my schedule to make sure I am in the best spot to serve your family. I take this very seriously. I know things do come up. I try to be flexible and accommodating.

 

How do you take payments?

Zelle, Google Pay, and Venmo are quick and do not take fees.

How to confirm a session?

Sessions are not considered "booked" on my calendar until payment is made in advance of the session. Prep work does not begin until payment is completed.
